Hydrafacial Machine Cost and Alternatives for Med Spas (2026)

A hydrodermabrasion facial (the category most people call "a Hydrafacial") is one of the easiest services to add to a med spa, dermatology or plastic surgery menu. It needs no downtime, it suits nearly every client, and it pairs well with energy-based treatments. The harder question is what the machine really costs you over its life, because the purchase price is only the first line of the bill.

This guide breaks down where the money goes on a Hydrafacial-style system, how branded and open consumable models differ, what to ask any vendor before you sign, and where AquaGLOW from IDS Lasers fits. We sell AquaGLOW, so treat this as our view and check the linked sources yourself. We don't publish device prices for any brand, including our own. Request pricing and we'll quote AquaGLOW for your practice. We do show the shop price of TripleGlow solution, since it's a consumable, and we cite where each figure comes from.

The short version

  • The device is the smaller part of lifetime cost. On a hydrodermabrasion system you buy tips, solutions and serums for every treatment, for as long as you own the machine.
  • Hydrafacial runs on a "razor and razor blade" model. Its maker, The Beauty Health Company, says so in its annual report, and consumables made up 70.7% of its net sales in 2025 [S1].
  • An alternative is worth a look when the consumable line, not the console, is what squeezes your margin. Compare cost per treatment, not sticker price.
  • AquaGLOW is a 4-in-1 aqua facial platform (aqua facial, diamond microdermabrasion, ultrasound infusion and radiofrequency) that runs on TripleGlow solution ($175 per box of 10 vials, 30 ml each) and single-use aqua tips [S4][S6][S7].

What you actually pay for

Every hydrodermabrasion system has the same four cost buckets. Get a written number for each one before you compare vendors.

  1. The delivery system (the machine). A one-time capital cost, often financed. IDS Lasers works with financing partners, so financing is available on AquaGLOW.
  2. Per-treatment consumables. Tips, solutions and any booster serums. This is the cost you pay again on every single facial.
  3. Training and onboarding. Who trains your staff, how long it takes, and whether refreshers cost extra.
  4. Service and support. Warranty length, loaner policy, and what happens when a handpiece fails on a full-schedule Saturday.

How the Hydrafacial consumable model works

The Beauty Health Company's 2025 Form 10-K describes the Hydrafacial business plainly. The Syndeo delivery system is "the razor," and the consumables (single-use tips, solutions and serums) are "the razor blades." Delivery systems and consumables can be bought together or separately [S1].

The same filing lists what a treatment uses [S1]:

  • Tips: a minimum of 3 single-use tips per Hydrafacial treatment.
  • Solutions: 4 bottle SKUs are required for a treatment, and those bottles cover roughly 12 to 15 treatments. Some peel-strength SKUs last about 1 to 2 treatments each.
  • Serums (boosters): optional add-ons at roughly 1 to 2 treatments per vial.

The company's numbers show how much of the business is that recurring line. In 2025, Hydrafacial consumables brought in $212.7 million (70.7% of net sales), while delivery systems brought in $88.1 million (29.3%) [S1]. The company also reported placing 3,726 delivery systems in 2025, down from 4,907 in 2024 [S2]. None of that makes the system a bad buy. It does tell you the consumable price list matters more than the console price.

A note on FDA status

Powered dermabrasion devices fall under 21 CFR 878.4820, a Class I regulation that is exempt from 510(k) premarket notification, subject to the limits in 21 CFR 878.9 [S3]. FDA's dermabrasion guidance explains that a 510(k) can still be required when a device has different indications, different output parameters, a different mode of action, or a different abrasion substrate [S5]. The Beauty Health Company states in its 10-K that its Syndeo delivery systems are Class I exempt medical devices [S1]. In plain terms, FDA clearance isn't something every facial device carries or needs. This section is general background on the device category, not a statement about the regulatory status of any particular product. Ask every vendor exactly how its device is classified and listed, and don't let anyone imply a clearance they can't show you.

How to work out cost per treatment

You don't need anyone's marketing numbers to compare two systems. You need four inputs from each vendor's written quote:

  1. Consumable cost for one standard treatment (tips plus solutions, at the bottle yield the vendor states).
  2. Optional booster or serum cost per treatment, if you plan to sell add-ons.
  3. Your expected treatments per month.
  4. Your monthly device payment if you finance.

Cost per treatment is the first two numbers added together. Monthly cost is that figure times your volume, plus the device payment. For AquaGLOW, the shop lists TripleGlow solution at $175 per box of 10 vials (30 ml each), and the aqua tips are single-use, sold in packs of 25 [S6][S7]. The product pages don't say how much solution or how many tips one treatment uses, so we don't show a per-treatment figure here. Ask for those two numbers in writing on any quote. Run both quotes through the med spa laser ROI calculator with your own service price and volume, and the difference between a branded and an open consumable model shows up quickly.

Who should consider an alternative

A Hydrafacial-style alternative tends to make sense when:

  • You already run the service and your consumable spend is the line you most want to cut.
  • You want one console to cover aqua facial, microdermabrasion, ultrasound infusion and RF tightening rather than buying add-ons separately.
  • You want a facial service that pairs with energy-based treatments. Many practices book a hydrating facial before or between RF microneedling or IPL sessions.

Staying with a branded system can make sense if your clients ask for the brand by name and you price the service to match. That's a business decision only you can make, so compare the real numbers.

Where AquaGLOW fits

AquaGLOW is IDS Lasers' 4-in-1 aqua facial system. A spiral tip with dual suction and serum infusion cleanses and exfoliates, and diamond microdermabrasion, ultrasound serum absorption and radiofrequency handpieces round out the menu from one console [S4]. It runs on TripleGlow AquaGLOW Solution, which the IDS Lasers shop lists at $175 for a box of 10 vials (30 ml each) [S6]. The aqua tips are single-use [S7], and IDS training is delivered by licensed estheticians [S4].

FAQ

How much does a Hydrafacial machine cost?

Device pricing varies by model, configuration and financing, and we don't publish device prices for any brand here. The bigger number over time is consumables: the company reports that consumables were 70.7% of its 2025 net sales [S1]. Get a written quote for both the device and per-treatment consumables.

What consumables does a Hydrafacial treatment use?

According to The Beauty Health Company's 2025 Form 10-K, a treatment uses a minimum of 3 single-use tips, solutions from 4 bottle SKUs (about 12 to 15 treatments per set), and optional booster serums at about 1 to 2 treatments per vial [S1].

Is AquaGLOW a Hydrafacial?

No. AquaGLOW is a separate 4-in-1 aqua facial system from IDS Lasers. "Hydrafacial" is a trademark of its owner. People often use the word for the whole hydrodermabrasion category.

What is the difference between hydrodermabrasion and microdermabrasion?

Hydrodermabrasion uses suction and liquid solution through a tip to cleanse and exfoliate. Diamond microdermabrasion uses an abrasive tip. AquaGLOW includes both, plus ultrasound and radiofrequency handpieces [S4].

Do hydrodermabrasion machines need FDA clearance?

Not always. Powered dermabrasion devices are Class I and 510(k)-exempt under 21 CFR 878.4820, within the limits of 21 CFR 878.9 [S3]. A 510(k) may still be needed for different indications or technology [S5]. Ask each vendor how its device is classified.

How much does TripleGlow solution cost?

The IDS Lasers shop lists TripleGlow AquaGLOW Solution at $175 for a box of 10 vials, 30 ml each, as of Nov 1, 2026. The price may change. The product page doesn't state how much solution one treatment uses, so we don't give a per-treatment cost [S6].

Are AquaGLOW tips single-use?

The aqua tips are. The shop sells large and small aqua tips as disposable, single-use tips in packs of 25 [S7]. Request pricing for your practice's tips and solution needs.

Is financing available for AquaGLOW?

Yes. IDS Lasers works with financing partners. Request pricing and we'll include financing options with your quote.

How long is the AquaGLOW demo?

The virtual demo is 30 minutes. Request a time here.
